The Masonic Study Unit’s purpose is to publish an interesting and informative publication on Masonic Philately and related subjects. We hope our members will gain more Light through knowledge of stamps and be able to expand and improve their Masonic collections. We have gone through several changes over the years since the Unit’s inception. This website is just another step to extend our reach and attract more members and participation, both of which enrich our newsletter and knowledge of Masonic Philately.

Our Staff
This the passing of Robert Domingue who had been the Unit’s editor since 1984, taking over The Philatelic Freemason with the May-June 1984 issue, Volume 8, Number 1. and the inability of GWMSC and the ATA to reach Gene Fricks, the American Topical Association (ATA) had delisted the unit. the George Washington Masonic Stamp Club decided to resurrect the unit. Casey Polowitch has taken the lead on working with ATA and Jeffrey Coney will continue to support the web site and over see the consolidation of the GWMSC, MSCNY and MSU websites.
Articles Pertaining to Unit Management
The Editor Speaks — excerpt from Philatelic Freemason Volume 1, Number 1, August-September 1977. This was the first issue of the Philatelic Freemason, featuring biographies of Freemasons who had appeared on stamps of the prior three years, with articles contributed by four different members. Editor Walter J. Kirby of Little Rock, Arkansas, welcomed reader submissions and feedback on the direction of the publication.
Masonic Stamp Unit Reorganized — excerpt from Volume 1, Number 1, September-October 1967. The Masonic Stamp Unit of the American Topical Association was reorganized two years after it had been disbanded. Publication of the Masonic Newsletter (renamed the Masonic Stamp Collector) resumed under new editor Brother Nicholas G. Koutroulis of New Orleans, LA, following the departure of prior editor Brother Clarence Baltmann. Membership at the time was about 350, and members were encouraged to submit articles and recruit new members to grow the newsletter.
